Border Patrol wrapup: American accused of human smuggling

Naco Station Border Patrol agents apprehended a man Monday west of the Naco Port for illegal entry. Using the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System, agents learned he was convicted of rape in 1990 in Kennewick, Wash. The man was held for criminal prosecution by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Also on Monday, Naco agents apprehended a Mexican national who previously had been removed from the United States. He admitted to being a member of the Sureños 13 gang. He was held for prosecution by the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Willcox agents arrested a 56-year-old American on Monday night at the S.R. 90 checkpoint who was attempting to smuggle an illegal immigrant in the trunk of his vehicle. The vehicle was seized and the illegal immigrant was transported to the Willcox Station for further processing. The driver was being prosecuted for human smuggling.

Border Patrol Search Trauma and Rescue agents discovered human remains in the west desert on Monday. The scene was turned over to the Tohono O’odham Police Department.

BORSTAR agents responded to a 911 call Tuesday morning from a man in distress near the Quijotoa mountains. A CBP helicopter located the 22-year-old illegal immigrant and took him into custody. BORSTAR treated him for blisters on his feet and he declined further medical treatment. He was transported to Tucson for processing and removal.
