ELBA — Three men alleged to be in the United States illegally, were arrested and turned over to federal authorities after investigation of a hit-and-run crash Friday in Oakfield, the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office said.
A hit-and-run crash involving a parked car at the Wilson Farms on South Main Street in Oakfield was reported at 5:11 p.m. Friday, deputies said.
The suspect, later identified as 21-year-old Arturo Ocana-Martinez, was allegedly operating the vehicle when stopped about 5:30 p.m. on Transit Road in Elba by Sgt. Gregory H. Walker.
Ocana-Martinez was taken into custody.
Deputy Christopher A. Parker stopped by assist at the traffic stop. While beginning to interview the front-seat passenger — Efrain Diaz-Guttierez, 18 — another passenger in the vehicle fled on foot, deputies said. That suspect, Exar Morales-Perez, 19, allegedly fled cross a cornfield before being taken into custody by Parker after a lengthy foot pursuit.
All suspects were turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, deputies said.
