TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Over the weekend, Border Patrol agents out of the Casa Grande station rescued two undocumented individuals from the west desert. They called for help, saying they needed water, said Tucson Sector Border Patrol spokesman David Jimarez.
Customs and Border Protection's Office of Air and Marine located the two and supplied them with water, Jimarez said. Agents took them into custody and brought them to Tucson, where they will be processed for deportation.
Also over the weekend, agents arrested an undocumented immigrant affiliated with the Sureño gang. The man admitted the gang affiliation to agents and was held for processing for being in the United States illegally. He will be deported. The arrest was handled by agents in the Casa Grande Station.
Agents in the Tucson Station detained a another man with ties to the Sureño gang. This one had an active felony warrant from St. Paul, Minn. for possession of dangerous drugs. The warrant was discovered using the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS).
He is in the custody of the Tucson Police Department, which is arranging the extradition on the drug charge. After he serves his time in that state case, he will face federal charges for illegally re-entering the United States.
