Members of the Bay County Sheriff's Ice Team rounded up several illegal aliens Monday night.
We usually hear about raids on construction sites, but officers knocked on doors on the west end of Panama City Beach to make their arrests.
Sheriff Frank McKeithen says they received information about the location of several men they already had warrants for.
Officers headed out around 4 p.m. Monday afternoon, and within and hour and a half 10 people had been arrested. Nine of them were illegal aliens; one had an outstanding warrant for burglary.
McKeithen says earlier this year they obtained 100 warrants for one work site and have been working on finding these illegals. He says Monday night was a success in more ways than one.
Frank McKeithen said, "We have addresses in the warrant and were checking those locations. At some of those locations we're not finding who we were looking for, but we're finishing someone else, possibly with a warrant or who’s an illegal alien, and we’re making arrests in that."
By the end of the night, ice officers arrested 12 illegal aliens and seven others on criminal warrants.
