ESCONDIDO ---- A Mexican man who has been deported from the United States seven times was arrested just after midnight Sunday driving in Escondido, a police lieutenant said.
Escondido police stopped Fernando Marcos Bravo-Sanchez, 28, for driving a vehicle with a faulty light, Lt. Chris Wynn said.
The man identified himself but did not have his driver's license or any identification, prompting a federal officer from Immigration and Customs Enforcement to come to the scene, Wynn said.
A records check determined that Bravo-Sanchez had prior convictions for burglary and possession of a stolen vehicle, Wynn said.
He said Bravo-Sanchez had been deported seven times and voluntarily returned to Mexico three times.
Bravo-Sanchez was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on an immigration hold. He faces charges from an unrelated stolen-vehicle case, Wynn said.
