10 illegal immigrants found during traffic stop Wednesday, Mar. 12, 2008
State police at Rockview took 10 illegal Mexican immigrants into custody after a routine traffic stop Monday on Interstate 80 in Rush Township.
A trooper pulled over a Ford Windstar van for tailgating and discovered 10 people “packed” into the vehicle, state police said in a release. No one was able to speak English or provide identification, police said.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials arrived to assist state police and all 10 were detained. Nine were lodged in the Clinton County Jail while a juvenile was released to a family member pending deportation proceedings.
