BOSTON — A Boston-area Pakistani immigrant swept up in the investigation into the failed plot to set off a bomb in Times Square says he just wants his life to return to normal.

Pir Khan was detained on immigration charges, but never faced terrorism-related charges, after his arrest five months ago as he was cleaning his taxi’s windshield outside a Boston hotel. At the same time, federal agents raided his Watertown home.

The 43-year-old Khan told Boston-area media he just wants to get back to work.

Wearing a Red Sox jersey, and sitting with his American wife in his lawyer’s office, Khan says he was shocked by his arrest and had never heard of Faisal Shahzad. Shahzad was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to the failed May 1 attack.

His wife, Rebecca Barry, says she fears her husband will be deported.
