Illegal immigrant arrested in Milford
May 19, 2011
A traffic stop led to arrest for an illegal immigrant in Milford May 12.
Reports state police pulled over the driver of a car that had no functioning brake lights near Pontiac Trail and Old Plank Road and soon learned the driver had five current license suspensions, an expired license and two warrants for his arrest for traffic offenses in other jurisdictions.
At first, the driver reportedly told police he was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., then provided a Social Security number which police determined was issued to a person who died in 1987. The man then admitted to being born in Mexico and said he sneaked into the United States by hiding in a car, according to reports.
Milford Police contacted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, then detained the man. He was cited for driving with a suspended license and providing false information to police.
