An illegal immigrant who failed to appear on several charges in 2007, was sentenced on Tuesday in District Court.
Judge David Huff sentenced J. Gudalupe Bramasco-Suarez to 60 days in the Chur chill County Jail for violating a restraining order in 2007. Bramasco-Suarez was arrested in 2007, for violating the order and had also been charged with unlawful use of a controlled substance.
However, when Bramasco-Suarez was scheduled to appear for sentencing, he left the state to be with his ailing mother, Bramasco-Suarez's attorney, Paul Drakulich, said. Bramasco-Suarez was living in San Jose, Calif., before he was arrested in July.
Huff, though, didn't sentence Bramasco-Suar ez on the drug charge, but said he wanted to wait on Bramasco-Suarez's status from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Churchill County District Attorney Art Mallory said since Bramasco-Suar ez has been convicted, ICE will look at deportation.
