CAPE MAY - Police have arrested a 19-year-old man for the alleged aggravated sexual assault of a girl.

Luis Torres-Sanchez, who police said provided addresses in Cape May and in Mexico, was arrested on June 8, and is lodged in Cape May County jail with bail set at $250,000. Police said the sexual assault occurred in June 2010, but they just found out about it.

"It came to light based on another investigation we are working on," said Det. Sgt. Anthony Marino.

Torres-Sanchez is charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a minor.

Police did not release the name of the minor but said she is under the age of 13 and not related to Torres-Sanchez. The alleged assault occurred in Cape May. Police believe it happened on one occasion.

Police said Torres-Sanchez could not supply documentation that he is a U.S. citizen. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been contacted.

The case is being investigated by Marino and Det. Doug Henderson with cooperation from the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office.
