SOUTHBURY -- A Waterbury man is facing deportation after he was charged with driving while intoxicated early Wednesday on Interstate 84, police said.
Juan Pablo Maposito-Quichimbo, 33, of 76 Lydia St., was charged with DWI, improper registration, failure to carry insurance, failure to drive in the proper lane and misuse of marker plates, police said.
State police received complaints about a maroon convertible eastbound on I-84 in Southbury shortly after 1 a.m., police said. Southbury police officer Kevin Burns, who was nearby, saw the vehicle pass Exit 15 and said it was weaving and almost struck a tractor trailer.
Burns stopped the car and arrested Maposito-Quichimbo. It was later learned through the Department of Homeland Security that Maposito-Quichimbo is in the United States illegally.
