GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - It is the law that companies can only employ Americans or foreigners who have come into this country legally. One coast construction company is making Mississippi history by going one step further to ensure its workers meet the letter of that law.

Roy Anderson Corp. is becoming the first Mississippi company to become a member of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement's IMAGE program that protects the integrity of the American workforce. This afternoon there will be a signing ceremony between ICE and Roy Anderson Corp.

"ICE recognizes the highest level of employment integrity can only be achieved through close coordination with industry partners," said ICE Homeland Security Investigations Agent Raymond Parmer.

Parmer added, "Roy Anderson Corp. will join IMAGE business participants around the country who are committed to protect the integrity of their workforce by helping ensure that their employees are who they represent themselves to be."

By becoming a part of the IMAGE program, companies establish a formal partnership with law enforcement and use the tools offered by the federal government to screen employees and ensure they are lawfully authorized to work.

Krystal Allan will be there for this historic signing. Later today on WLOX.com and WLOX News, hear why the Roy Anderson Corp. decided being a part of this program is important.
