Arrests made at medical marijuana garden in Exeter

Eight men were arrested Monday morning on suspicion of cultivating marijuana and processing it for sale at a medical marijuana garden in Exeter, according to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department.

According to investigators, suspect Cristobal Arteaga Garibay, 33, hired the seven other suspects to cultivate and process marijuana for sale.

Under California law, hiring of individuals to grow medical marijuana is not allowed and selling marijuana is illegal under any circumstances, deputies report.

Immigration holds were placed on all suspects except Garibay, deputies report.

The arrests were made following a routine compliance check of a medical marijuana garden at 10 a.m. Monday on the 800 block of Myer Road.

Suspects Garibay, Gilberto Barajas Solano, 24, Ricardo Diaz Olivera, 21, Pasquel Mora Castrejon, 21, Juan Diaz Alvarez, 22, Luis Diaz Barajas, 20, Rafael Diaz Alvarez, 19, and Jesus Mendoza Barajas, 27, were arrested on suspicion of cultivating marijuana.
