A Wednesday drug bust in Key West turned up more than drugs, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office says: It also turned up five illegal aliens from Honduras with fake U.S. citizenship documents.
The agency's Special Investigations Division, along with the Key West Police Department's Narcotics Unit, served a search warrant at 6 p.m. at 1916 Seidenberg Ave. They arrested the resident, Reimundo Huete, 25, after they reportedly found 21 grams of cocaine and 44 grams of marijuana in the house. Also seized was $1,204 in cash, which detectives believe is proceeds from drug sales.
Huete was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Others at the house included Huete's girlfriend, Dalia Lopez, 19; Santos Torres, 20; Natividad Campos, 32; and Erlin Villa, 33.
Deputy Becky Herrin says "they were all from Honduras and all admitted to entering the United States illegally. They were also in possession of fake documents including Social Security cards."
U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents responded and took them into custody for deportation back to Honduras. And an immigration hold was placed on Huete so he can't bond out of jail. He'll be deported after his criminal case is resolved.
