Carteret authorities aid in removal of illegal immigrants

Area authorities have assisted U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents locate and take multiple illegal immigrants into custody, officials said.

Carteret County Sheriff’s deputies and Newport police officers assisted ICE agents locate and take Ehab Mohammed Ahmed Ghareeb and Bassem Fangary into custody Jan. 28. Ghareeb is the co-owner of Every Day Italian Restaurant in Newport, where Fangary is an employee, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Department.

Both men are in the country illegally.

Sheriff’s deputies also turned over another illegal immigrant.

On Jan. 26 Francisco Mondragon Limon was taken into custody for calling the Carteret County Communication Center several times and refusing to provide an address or reason for calling 911, according to the press release. Deputies located Limon at a Mayberry Loop Road residence and brought him to the Carteret County Jail where he was held under he was released to ICE agents Jan. 28.

Deputy Tim Quillen previously contacted ICE about Limon after learning he was on their list to be picked up with Ghareeb and Fangary.
