Maricopa County Sheriff Press Release
Phoenix, AZ. - Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 14 more illegal aliens making their way through county roadways. The fourteen arrested were booked on felony charges and taken to jail, according to Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
The Sheriff’s Human Smuggling Unit spotted a vehicle near I-17 and New River Road and found 14 people inside, including two females, all of whom were later determined to be here illegally. Each paid between $1000.00 and $2500.00 for illegal entry into the U.S. deputies say.
In just over 30 days, 92 illegal aliens were arrested on state felony charges and booked into county jail.
“I will not back down on the enforcement of federal and state immigration laws despite the threat of a federal investigation based on media reports, and activist groups and some politicians,” Arpaio says.
To date, the Sheriff’s Office has arrested 1553 illegal aliens on state human smuggling laws, a class 4 felony.
The Sheriff‘s Office continues to be the only agency enforcing all aspects of felony Arizona state human smuggling laws.
