A 17-year-old Walnut Street boy was arrested Monday afternoon near Marion Street, in the alley that runs between Walnut and Bank streets, on the charge of possession of a prohibited weapon.

The boy was found to be in possession of a switchblade knife after police stopped him to question him and another person in an area police say recently has been hit hard by graffiti.

The 17-year-old admitted to police that he is in the country illegally, and added that he has no family living in the state. He was lodged in Cumberland County Juvenile Detention Center on a detainer issued by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
