Roberto A. Ascencio, 25, and David H. Ascencio, 18, both of North Pearl Street, were arrested early Monday on the charges of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, accused of beating a 31-year-old North Laurel Street man at Pearl and Seibel streets.

The victim told police one of the men hit him with a tree branch, and one of them hit him with a large rock during the attack.

Roberto Ascencio was lodged in Cumberland County Jail on $15,000 bail.

A suspected illegal immigrant, David Ascencio was lodged in the county jail without bail on a detainer issued by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Bail on the assault-related charges was set against him at $15,000.
