Six men were arrested in University Park in greater Bluffton early Friday morning on charges they entered the U.S. illegally, according to a release from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Those arrests follow a joint investigation by the Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) Office of Investigations and Beaufort County Sheriff's Office immigration task force officers. The investigation was based on information received from the Department of Homeland Security in Charleston.

Officers determined that five of the seven men they found at 208 Student Union St., had entered the U.S. without being inspected by U.S. Customs & Border officials at their points of entry, according to the release. A sixth was wanted in both South Carolina and Georgia for probation and parole violations. The seventh man wasn't arrested.

The following suspects were taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center, where they were placed on ICE holds:

• Alan Rogelio Cantu-Cantu, 18
• Isael Espinosa-Martinez, 22
• Raul Ramirez-Arguello, 26
• Luis Mendoza-Zambrano, 29
• Rafael Martinez-Ruelas, 33
• Leordeo Machuca-Herva, 35, was placed on ICE hold pending extradition to Georgia for probation and paroleviolations.
