ICE flies 77 Nigerians, 6 Albanians out of Niagara Falls

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. - Seventy-seven Nigerians and six Albanians are back in their home countries after being deported on a group flight out of Niagara Falls.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement authorities say about half of those removed had been convicted of crimes, including drug possession, assault and counterfeiting.
They were transferred from various holding centers around the country to a federal detention facility in Batavia, east of Buffalo, where they were held until Wednesday's flight.
The chartered flight made stops in Lagos, Nigeria and Tirana, Albania.
In fiscal year 2007, ICE removed more than 284,000 people, 93,000 with criminal records.
