Bay County Sheriff’s deputies needed buses to cart away more than 50 suspected illegal aliens from two work sites on Panama City Beach on Friday.
The agency brought criminal charges against 23 undocumented workers, some of whom were charged with use of stolen and fictitious Social Security numbers, officials said in a news release. Other charges included resisting an officer without violence, and one man, Julio Cesar Hernandez, 59, of Nashville, Tenn., was arrested as a federal fugitive for a sexual battery charge in Kentucky, according to the release.
Five others were handed over to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency for prosecution. The investigation into the situation is ongoing and more arrests are expected, deputies reported.
