Round Rock police found 12 illegal immigrants crammed in the cab of a pickup after making a traffic stop at Interstate 35 about 11 a.m. Friday.
Police spokesman Eric Poteet said an officer pulled the truck's driver over near the Westinghouse exit for speeding. He said the cab's back seat had been torn out to make room for the 12 people.
Customs spokeswoman Nina Pruneda said there were two juveniles, 15 and 16, and the rest were adults. All were Mexican nationals, she said, and all were in the country illegally.
Poteet said the truck was registered to someone in Texas but had not been reported stolen. Police called Immigration and Customs Enforcement to help with the situation. It is still unknown where the group was going or where it had come from, Pruneda said.
