DOUGLAS -- A woman convicted of negligent homicide was stopped Tuesday when entering the United States illegally.
32-year-old Vanessa Francisca Rico-Verdugo, a Mexican national, was apprehended by Douglas Station Border Patrol agents.
She illegally entered the United States east of the entry point. During processing, a criminal records check revealed she was convicted in 2001 in Maricopa County and was sentenced to nine months in prison and four years probation.
Rico-Verdugo also received a formal order of removal from an immigration judge on Nov. 27, 2001, and was deported.
She is now facing prosecution for illegal re-entry of a convicted felon. Following the judicial process, she will be removed from the United States.
