NEW ORLEANS — A Mexican citizen pleaded guilty Friday to entering the country illegally for a second time, a charge that resulted after he was found in Lafourche Parish, authorities said.

Gilberto Ramos-Marrufo, 32, faces up to 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New Orleans. He is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 22 in U.S. District Court.

U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigated, arresting Ramos Oct. 26 in Lafourche.

Ramos was deported from El Paso, Texas, in February 2005.
