Four illegal immigrants arrested in Schroon

SCHROON -- Four illegal immigrants from Mexico were arrested Friday following a traffic stop on Route 9, police records show.
The four, all giving police addresses in Canton, Ga., were found during a 3:33 p.m. traffic stop. Their vehicle had no license plate on a trailer and occupants were not wearing seat belts, according to State Police.
Charged with federal felony counts of being an illegal immigrant were Manuel Altamirano, 23; Humberto Reyes, 25; Freddy V. Santos, 37; and Eulalio M. Barragan, 54.
All four were turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol pending deportation proceedings.
