Aguadilla, PR.– Law enforcement entities of the Caribbean Border Interagency Group (CBIG), intercepted 17 undocumented Domincan citizens. During early Thursday morning hours a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) aircraft detected a vessel traveling eastward without its required navigational lights.
CBP air interdiction agents maintained the vessel under surveillance and coordinated an interdiction with US Coast Guard cutter Cushing, 18 nautical miles Northwest off the coast of Aguadilla, PR.
USCG personnel documented the incursion via records checks and biometrics, and CBP Border Patrol Agents interviewed the aliens.
Five alien subjects will be prosecuted and the USCG is scheduled to repatriate the remaining 12 aliens. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will present the case to the consideration of Special Assistant US Attorney Russell Booker III.
