DUI crash — At about 3:30 a.m. Friday in the 1100 block of 24th Avenue, police were called to the scene of a car flipped on its side.

According to an officer, Pedro Martinez-Mendez, 28, of Vancouver, Wash., was driving east in the 1100 block of 24th Avenue S.E. in a 1998 Honda Civic when he crashed into a parked 2000 Saturn SL four-door, rolling the Civic. Martinez-Mendez requested medics and was taken to Samaritan Albany General Hospital, where he was medically cleared and sent to the Linn County Jail.

Martinez-Mendez was taken into custody for driving while suspended. Charges of DUII, reckless driving, and second-degree criminal mischief were added and he was lodged in jail. He also had an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold. His vehicle wasn’t driveable and was towed from the scene.
