EL PASO, Texas -- One of the violators arrested at the El Paso, Tex. border crossing over the weekend was an unidentified 18-year-old man who had been using his border crossing card (laser visa) to perform as a wrestler in El Paso, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.

That's just one of 49 immigration violations uncovered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in El Paso this weekend.

Twenty-two illegal immigrants were identified through document exams. In these cases, individuals use a legally issued border-crossing card (laser visa) to live or work in the U.S., which is not authorized. Violators generally lose their documents and are returned to Mexico.

CBP officers also identified 18 impostors while performing inspections at area ports. Impostors generally will use a legitimate entry document assigned to another person and present it as their own.

CBP officers recorded nine cases of people making false claims to U.S. citizenship, people attempting to enter with counterfeit or altered documents, and visa overstay violations.
