PHOENIX -- Police in Phoenix said a routine traffic Saturday stop led officers to 27 undocumented immigrants inside a home near Lower Buckeye Road and 63rd Avenue.
Officials said an officer pulled over a truck with suspended license plates. That's when they said the passenger admitted to being here illegally, then led police to the drop house.
Police found 27 people inside, and said three were suspected human smugglers.
They told CBS 5 News the group trekked through the desert for eight days before arriving at the house Saturday morning.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials loaded the group into a bus and took them away for questioning.
