A 23-year-old native and citizen of Mexico was apprehended in York County after he was found to be in possession of a fraudulent social security card, according to United States Attorney Peter J. Smith.

Francisco Dominguez was in the United States illegally and indicted on three counts Wednesday by a federal grand jury in Harrisburg, a news release stated.

Dominguez was charged with Social Security fraud and possession of a document with the intent to defraud the United States, officials said.

If convicted, Dominguez faces up to 20 years in prison and fines of more than $500,000.

The Department of Homeland Security, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement and the United States Marshals Service conducted the investigation. Special Assistant United States Attorney Brian G. McDonnell is prosecuting the case.
