Geneva, N.Y. —
The passenger in a car pulled over for erratic driving was arrested on illegal immigration charges Saturday, Ontario County deputies said.
Elfido Gonzalez, 19, of 1033 Swamp Road, Middlesex, was stopped on Routes 5 and 20 in Geneva and charged him with driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right, failing to signal a turn and drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle.
During the stop, his passenger, Arturo Mendes, 19, of the same address, admitted to presenting false ID to deputies and said he entered the country illegally.
Mendes was then turned over to U.S. Border Patrol for deportation.
Mendes was arraigned in Geneva Town Court and taken to Ontario County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
