Drunk driving

On Jan. 31 at 1:07 a.m., police arrested Mariusz Mioduszewski, 24, of Passaic, on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence, being an unlicensed driver and failure to observe a signal. While on patrol, Officer Boris Ivanovski observed a blue 2003 Saab turn left onto River Drive from Monroe Street through a red light and continue northbound on River Drive. The vehicle was reportedly swerving from side to side in the roadway, touching the double yellow lines repeatedly. Ivanovski activated his lights, but the vehicle did not stop until reaching the intersection of Van Winkle Avenue and Wessington Avenue. Upon speaking with the driver, Mioduszewski, the officer reported detecting an odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath. Ivanovski also noted that his hand movements were slow and his eyes were bloodshot and watery. He asked Mioduszewski if he had been drinking and he said he had two beers. Officer Coniglio also responded to the scene. After failing field sobriety tests, Mioduszewski was arrested on charges of being an unlicensed driver, operating a motor vehicle under the influence and failure to observe a signal. United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement was notified due to Mioduszewski’s lack of a passport with a valid visa and international license.
