CHARLOTTE -- Authorities with Immigration and Customs Enforcement say Operation Community Shield has netted another 10 gang members in the Charlotte area.
Officers made the arrests on Wednesday. Authorities say the suspects are members and associates of the MS-13 and Brown Pride street gangs.
Two of the people arrested were turned over to the state for criminal offenses. ICE has begun the deportation process on the other eight individuals.
The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Department, Concord police and CMPD were also involved in the arrests. Since the operation began in 2005, more than 12,000 gang members have been arrested nationwide.
