A dozen illegal immigrants have been taken into custody on U.S. 93 northwest of the Valley.
The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office said the uninsured driver carried no identification except a Mexican voter registration card when an SUV was stopped Monday near Congress, north of Wickenburg.
Officers found 12 people packed into the SUV. None of the passengers had identification and all admitted they were in the United States illegally. They said they were heading to Las Vegas to get work.
The SUV occupants were turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Phoenix for deportation.
