A traffic stop by Scottsdale police on Thursday netted the arrests of seven illegal immigrants from Mexico, who all are now in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Scottsdale police noticed a blue Dodge pickup run a red light at Scottsdale and Thomas roads about 8:30 p.m. After stopping the truck near 56th Street and Thomas, its driver, Jordan Gonzalez provided police with a false name and did not have identification, police said.
Police discovered that Everette Gaseoma, a passenger in the truck, was wanted an outstanding warrants, and was arrested.
Other passengers in the cab of the truck told police they were Mexican nationals and in the country illegally, and officers discovered three more men hiding under a tarp in the bed of the truck.
Local ICE agents also responded to the traffic stop and first took custody of the six people in the truck. Gonzalez first was booked into the Scottsdale City Jail and later turned over to ICE.
At the time, there is no evidence that those arrested were being held against their will, and no other criminal activity was discovered, police said.
